Miserere - Psalm 51

I listen to two beautiful and compelling songs with the name Miserere; one by Andrea Bocelli & Zucchero and the other by The Cat Empire. Reading the history, what miserere means and were it comes from, I'm taken even further into an incredible awe.
Read the Miserere (Allegri) on wikipedia and you'll also see what I mean. But first read Psalm 51 below. The reason this Psalm is referred to as Miserere is because in Latin the first line read "Miserere mei, Deus" - "Have mercy on me, O God".

Psalm 51

For the director of music. A psalm of David. When the prophet Nathan came to him after David had committed adultery with Bathsheba.
1 Have mercy on me, O God,
according to your unfailing love;
according to your great compassion
blot out my transgressions.

2 Wash away all my iniquity
and cleanse me from my sin.

3 For I know my transgressions,
and my sin is always before me.

4 Against you, you only, have I sinned
and done what is evil in your sight;
so you are right in your verdict
and justified when you judge.

5 Surely I was sinful at birth,
sinful from the time my mother conceived me.

6 Yet you desired faithfulness even in the womb;
you taught me wisdom in that secret place.

7 Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean;
wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.

8 Let me hear joy and gladness;
let the bones you have crushed rejoice.

9 Hide your face from my sins
and blot out all my iniquity.

10 Create in me a pure heart, O God,
and renew a steadfast spirit within me.

11 Do not cast me from your presence
or take your Holy Spirit from me.

12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation
and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.

13 Then I will teach transgressors your ways,
and sinners will turn back to you.

14 Deliver me from bloodguilt, O God,
you who are God my Savior,
and my tongue will sing of your righteousness.

15 Open my lips, Lord,
and my mouth will declare your praise.

16 You do not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it;
you do not take pleasure in burnt offerings.

17 My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit;
a broken and contrite heart
you, God, will not despise.

18 May it please you to prosper Zion,
to build up the walls of Jerusalem.

19 Then you will delight in the sacrifices of the righteous,
in burnt offerings offered whole;
then bulls will be offered on your altar.

Today is my birthday

I'm 26 now. I feel the same but I've been thinking more on how little I've actually achieved in these 26 years still I've enjoyed it.
I've received a few phone calls, got a few emails, got a kiss from my mum this morning and will be heading out to dinner with the family tonight. Present wise its been pretty quite but I really don't want or need anything so that doesn't bother me - I'd much rather friends use there money on something worth while than something I potentially wont even like. So if you were planning on sending me a present how about you buy a goat or pig or chicken from World Vision. That'll be a much better present and you just know whoever receives it will be far more appreciative of a chicken than me. Ducks are different though - I'd love a pet duck.
I thought maybe I'd share an email I got from one of my friends. We haven't been friends for years and years or anything, in fact it probably hasn't even been one year yet, but here is a snippet of her kind words to me on this day - my birthday.

"I feel now is a good time to say I'm so glad I know you. Its been so much fun hanging out, going to a metal gig, bike rides, having 'special lattes', drinks, getting to know you, having you there to bounce ideas off and keep me focussed and calm, and introducing me to all these cool new things.

I admire your loyalty, unwavering faith, inventiveness, creativity, originality, and gumption.

So thanks for your friendship and I look forward to celebrating many more birthdays with you.
Can't wait for Robot on Thursday. :)

With much love my friend, Joce

PS. Oh, and thanks for still hanging out with me even though I've never played Mario :-D"

Below is a funny pic I found while roaming the internets..... its from Eclectech look at his face; too funny.

L.A.M.B. Shoes

Ok, so, L.A.M.B. started ages ago and is the brain child of Gwen Stefani - we all know that. But what I would like to know is how often do the designs for L.A.M.B. shoes get updated? And do they ever go on sale? Here in auzzie-land you can get them through the Elastics website but were can I try them on. The other thing is that half the designs look pretty normal just with a little lambie on the side - where is the stuff that is different? Where is that crazy out there style that made her a fashion player to start with? Just makes me think its run by some boring guy in a pair of old jeans and grubby t and how probably hasn't spoken to anyone in a long time. I did find some that were interesting in the end though; you just know good looking people wear these shoes. First up for the ladies the Chartres II. Next for all you super clean guys we got the white Miehana's. And lastly coz Stefani has kids she cares about the kids and you really can't have a family without having matching footwear.

Like Bears gig - April 11

Those lovable guys Like Bears are playing more gigs - w00t!
April 11 at the Espy, 8pm along side... The Polites, Faye Blais from Canada AND Temple of Tunes from Castlemaine.

You can get their EP from here.

If you haven't heard them before the best way to describe them is... "like a rocksy-folksy version of your favorite Milan Kundera book read by some guy who wants to be Joe Strummer, Tom Waits and Daniel Johnston all at once!
Though some say they sound like Pedro the Lion, The Flaming lips,Arcade Fire, M.Ward, Nick Drake and with a little Art of Fighting." That's what it says on the RANDOM site anyway.
