A Box of Sun - Monday Project
My first project and its not even completed (its not in illustrator like I wanted!).
A sketch of an empty box under a tree. As there are no clouds in the sky one can assume it is a sunny day therefore a box of sun sits under a tree on top of a rolling hill. A Box of Sun.
Think I'll still put it in illustrator and see what happens; I'm sure it will end up looking completely different.

James 1:12-27 (New King James)
Loving God Under Trials
12 Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him. 13 Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. 14 But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. 15 Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.16 Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren. 17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. 18 Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures.
Qualities Needed in Trials
19 So then,a]">[a] my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath; 20 for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God.Doers—Not Hearers Only
21 Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. 23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; 24 for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. 25 But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.
26 If anyone among youb]">[b] thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one’s religion is useless. 27 Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.
(via biblegateway)
I could study these words for weeks or even months and still there would be more to learn, more that God would reveal, more to repent from.

My heart.
You want to hear my heart.
I'll tell you what it sounds like. Ripping! Slow slow ripping. And then the squishy sound as someone squeezes all the blood and life out of it.
That's what my heart sounds like; that's what you hear.
-------------------------------------------
Here is an enlarged human heart and a normal heart photographed by the good people of National Geographic.
The heart is an incredible muscle and this image brings to light how amazing it is. We need to look after our hearts; guard our hearts.

After 5+ years it was over
Well apparently I said this;
i fell numb
i swear my soul left my body when i walked through the door
i failed again; the news hasn't set in
i sit here waiting
waiting for the rain to begin
this is the way it happens, again and again and again
but you push it aside and continue smiling
I'm getting tired but i'll keep going
always do

Harry James Angus played at Bennett's Lane
--------------------
great storyteller
makes you laugh at the ordinary things of life. those songs that aren't blatantly funny have a warming sensation like warm comforting hug from a lover or good friend; secure and true.
conjures feelings of a personal interaction
his music is funny and witty. music for the more intellectual of gig goers.
there is a older audience, mostly ppl over 30 and with a large portion seeming over 50. perhaps this is partly due to his gig being part of the Melb International Jazz Festival. Whatever the reason the gig is sold out and a waiting list started.
When the band joins Harry for the second set we are told they had only rehearsed that afternoon for the gig. As they jam and feel the music. As they feel the road with their instruments in what has become a pure jamming section and Harry even forgets what verse of the song they are meant to be up to you can't help but not care if the song isn't finished the way it may be intended. At this stage you are simply happy to have been given this opportunity to a glimpse into Harry's mind and world.

Psalm 13
How long will you hide your face from me?
How long must I wrestle with my thoughts
and every day have sorrow in my heart?
How long will my enemy triumph over me?
Look on me and answer, O LORD my God.
Give light to my eyes, or I will sleep in death;
my enemy will say, "I have overcome him,"
and my foes will rejoice when I fall.
But I trust in your unfailing love;
my heart rejoices in your salvation.
I will sing to the LORD,
for he has been good to me.

Text from a drama
And no longer can we say that
“Original thought exists”
The fact is
“Everyday is no different from today”
And not
“Tomorrow will be different from yesterday”
Let it be said that
In the future
Beauty will be skin-deep and manufactured
It is wrong to assert that
We are meant to create
Human potential is limited
And no longer will we believe that
We were made in His image
In truth, because
Our generation will prefer to live
a lie
“Our children will know no better” will be
The saying of this generation
The truth of today
Should be
The institution of marriage
Is false
“Love is an illusion”
I tell you this
Now
Families cannot stay together
It is foolish to presume
my peers and I care
Let it be said that
Humans will always be selfish
I do not agree that
Life should be celebrated
The truth is
Our lives are meaningless
I do not believe that
We are fearfully and wonderfully made
It is evident that
Our creation was an accident
It is wrong to think
We were created with a purpose
And God said "Let there be Light", and He reversed the Darkness
We were created with a purpose
It is wrong to think
Our creation was an accident
It is evident that
We are fearfully and wonderfully made
I do not believe that
Our lives are meaningless
The truth is
Life should be celebrated
I do not agree that
Humans will always be selfish
Let it be said that
my peers and I care
It is foolish to presume
Families cannot stay together
Now
I tell you this
“Love is an illusion”
Is false
The institution of marriage
Should be
The truth of today
The saying of this generation
“Our children will know no better” will be

Our generation will prefer to live

In the future
Let it be said that
“Tomorrow will be different from yesterday”
And not

And no longer can we say that
The world as we know it is dull and mundane

Nicostrata and "The City of Ladies"
There isn't much information about her but I have been able to gather snips from one small book. City of Ladies written by Christine de Pizan. Christine lived from 1364-1430, so AGES ago but her book is interesting if not a little repetitive.
In the book Lady Reason speak with Christine, which is how Christine clears and builds the foundation of the city, this is a little of what Reason says about how the people of Italy thanked Nicostrata.
"they heralded it as such a marvellous invention that they venerated her more highly than any man, worshipping Nicostrata like a goddess in her own lifetime."
"In honour of the science of Latin that she had invented, the people of the country called themselves Latins. Furthermore, because ita in Latin is the most important affirmative term in that language... they did not stop at calling their own realm the land of the Latins, but went so far as to use the name Italy to refer to the whole country beyond their immediate borders".
The picture shown is from Science & Society their side note to the image is as follows;
‘Typus Gramatica’ showing Nicostrata (also known as Carmenta), holding a hornbook and key, introducing a child into a tower of learning with six storeys. The lowest - Donatus, second - Priscianus, third - portraits of Aristotle (logic), Cicero (Rhetoric and Poetry), Boethius (Arithmetic). Fourth, Pythagorus (Music), Euclid (Geometry), Ptolemy (Astonomy), fifth - Aristotle (Physics), Seneca (Ethics). At the summit stands a Master of Sentences representing Theology. Mother to Evando, King of Arcadia, Nicostrata is known as a scholar of Greek letters and is often associated with birth, children and Apollo. From Grammar, part of ‘Margarita Philosophica’ by Gregor Reisch (1467?- 1525). First printed in 1503. Hand-coloured wood-cut.

For a very short moment
I've heard about Bump Top and the concept before but after watching the video I had one of the very short moments mentioned before.
Then I read that they will be making it for Mac and Linux soon too. I smiled and the moment was over.

Tea or Hot Chocolate?
Tea is soothing and calming and after a cup you feel like you can still do things. Hot chocolate on the other hand is also soothing and calming but after I usually just want to cuddle up with a doona on the couch or in bed and just dooze.

Forgotten Desktop File
The things you find on your desktop.
I have this bad habit of downloading stuff to my desktop and, most of the time, deleting it once I've finished with the file. But some times I forget. This pic is one of those forgotten downloads. I can't even remember how it came to be on my desktop. Still. He's wearing a pretty sweet t-shirt.

August
The sound track and cinematography took you to that trance like place with ease. I loved the music!
The synopsis is this: Two brothers, Tom and Joshua Sterling, own an Internet start-up, Landshark, that is as hot as a New York City summer--only this is the summer of 2001, their company is in lock up, its stock price is plunging and, in a few weeks, the world will change forever.

Having people from all over the world stay with my family means that strange things sometimes happen at our house.
Walking in the front door tonight was a little.... strange indeed.

Where are we at...
After that New Years came, and then went. Again the usual. Parties. Managed to limit it to two this year. I find the hardest party about NYE is determining which parties to go to and which one to be at when the clock strikes 12.
They were weeks ago now.
I was going to write something about a new webcomic (Man vs Life) that is so wrong its just right but I'll do that later when I've more time. It is quite comical.
