mmm pretty

I love sparklers. There is just something about them that makes you feel like a child again. Full of wonder and joy. For no matter how often I encounter them in the dead of night when there is very little light that sparkler holds so much! Hopes and dreams, stories and adventures - there is just something magical about sparklers.

New toy-Lenore: the cute little dead girl

It wasn't meant to happen but somehow I was drawn in - forced to walk down those stairs that take me to the underworld that is Minotaur. And there, as I strolled around the store with no intention of purchasing, I saw it. A 8" Lenore vinyl figure - I needed it. I picked it up, looked at it from every angle possible; putting my face on the plastic window in the vain hope of being able to see slightly more of the back of this fantastic figurine.
I studied the figure trying to determine if it was possibly that this 8" toy would fit on my work desk. Could I have more toys on my desk? Should I buy it knowing that it wont ever make its way to my house for a very long time? I'm a loosing a battle to toys? I'm I loosing a grip on reality buy purchasing more and more? well the simple answer to that last one is that I lost reality a long time ago, which makes it easy to understand and reason that there was nothing wrong when I walked out of Minotaur a little poorer, swinging that royal purple bag - inside; my new toy.

What to do...

What do I do when I really don't feel like working anymore? Simple. Play with toys on my desk and take photo's :)
As you can see I've got a few different toys. Here is what I've got:
  • Three Dunny's from the 2006 LA Series; pink-Fawn Gehweiler; Hollywood-Chad Phillips; tan with red-Blaine Fontana
  • and finally paper toy Ninja's - these ninja's are those from the Little Gamer webcomic - making paper toys is just another fun way to fill in some time.

A gig for Saturday and a day trip for me

This Saturday Fading Hour, a band from Melbourne, are playing down in the Frankston region. They are exceptionally good and well worth the long trip down that way for. The gig is being held at the Peninsula Lounge, 475 Moorooduc Highway, Moorooduc. Its 12 bucks entry and for that you get Fading Hour, Ink from NSW and Amphetame from those over there the US of A.

I'm pretty excited about it. Planning on heading down there earlier in the day. Having a BBQ and really just kicking back till its time to for the amps.

A rant, a gig and an exhibition

I always have such high hopes of actually writing an entry every day (except Sunday) but as you may have noticed it never quite happens. Don't get me wrong its nothing to do with a lack of things to say - I could talk, banter and fence till the cows come home - it just never quite relates back to an entry. Perhaps another day I'll speak to you about how women have changed over the years and much understanding and passion for feminism in its truest form has been almost lost but I'm no expert on this; but that's what a blog is for - un-research ignorant rants.
Perhaps I'll ramble on about C.S. Lewis and how I find almost everything his written incredible 'food for thought'...
But till those days come I'll just let you know what gig's and exhibition I'm going to or have been to.

Let's start with what I'm going to. This Friday (14 March) at the Noise Bar on Albert St, Brunswick The Collectables are playing with Zeptepi and The Uncomfortables from the UK. 6 bucks entry; starting at 8pm.

And now.... for an exhibition I went to earlier - last Friday. Fine detail - a real whymsical fantasy and fairy tale feel to the exhibition. You can see some of the work over at City of Reubens.

Japanese Bath House

This last trip to Japan was fantastic, that's not to say the first time wasn't great; it was, but this time. This time I got to indulge in a traditional Japanese Hot Bath.
If you've never been to Japan and had a hot bath or to Korea and tried one of their baths that's ok. You are missing out. But its ok.
Want to know why? Melbourne has a Japanese Bath House - that's why.
I'm talking traditional, naked, hours of soaking and relaxing bath.
If you've got a few spare hours I emplore you. Go to the bath house. Put down the TV remote, turn the game off and read your book some other time - head to the bath house instead. Soak and have a massage; you wont regret it.

just one of those days...

It happens, on occasion, were for some strange reason you just can't remember what you're meant to be doing. Today was one of those days for me. I'm so very sure that I was meant to being doing something, something important.
No-one has called to ask where I am so maybe it wasn't that important. I can recall some VIP party for some launch of something or other that I was going to attend but really... I just can't be bothered.
It's just one of those days.
A vague feeling of something in the back of my mind.
The complete and utter lack of enthusiasm to leave my house.
For Saturday you may thing its sad of me but really I'm more than happy to chill at home, read my CS Lewis book, play my PS2 and watch a little TV - its rare being able to do any of them.
I may even find the time to put a sheet on my bed ;)
